1974 Yamaha TY250 sold for $9,350 at the 2019 Mecum Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction
look at the beautiful polished motor and fins. I would want to paint the tank, heat shield, side cover, and seat base metal flake gold. then apply the stock tank decals back on and clear coats. this color of gold metal flake- allstitchedupbyangela.com/shop/Vinyl--Heat-Transfer/Solid-HTV/p/Gold-Metal-Flake-Thermoflex-x36618885.htm
I bought a brand new '74 TY 250 for $1000 back in '76. I sold it for $750 in '78 and that has to be one of the most regrettable mistakes I have ever made in my life.
I have the very same bike that is all original and looks every bit as good. I bought it brand new in 74' when I was 14 years old. Based on this, pretty good investment I'd say. I believe I gave about $1,400. I remember payments were $30 per month. I rebuilt a Hodaka 100 Dirt Squirt and sold it to pay off the TY250 when I went in the Navy at age 17...The TY250 is sitting in my garage as we speak.
I purchased mine in 1977, and brought her to Sturgis, this was the year of heavy rain and flooding in the Black Hills, we rode all the fire roads, some were so washed out you would be riding around bolder’s the size of a house, can’t imagine a better bike for that year, just got lucky, wish the big four jap bikes would bring bag the kind of line up that was once available Mike “Bag’s”

ReplyDeleteI loved reading your email . Keep the Yamaha TY250 as you will most likely regret selling it in the future . Kind regards , gerhard
