A Blog about Motorcycles. Also at www.OldMotoDude.Com, on the OldMotoDude YouTube channel, and Pinterest.
The motorcycles are mostly vintage, but really anything that catches my eye. 99.99% of the content on this blog is original material. Comments are always welcome. Use the search bar... you never know what you might find.
Just too cool! Surely not available in the U.S.? As you know I'm a big fan of the East German/Russian/Soviet Block motorcycles, MZ's especially, the racing story is amazing. I can thoroughly recommend Stealing Speed the book by Mat Oxley, tells the story of Ernst Degner and Walter Kaaden and their brilliant success racing on a budget and the treachery that led to the wounds in a fantastic partnership.
Yep, picked it up here in the U.S. Found it on the clearance table at a Polaris/Indian/Victory dealer in Colorado. Thanks for the book recommendation. I have Stealing Speed on my "must read" list. I've seen the photos of your MZ road racer, beautiful workmanship. Must have been an absolute blast to race. I also own an MZ. It's an Iraqi army sidecar rig that was captured by British forces in the first Gulf War.
