A Blog about Motorcycles. Also at www.OldMotoDude.Com, on the OldMotoDude YouTube channel, and Pinterest. The motorcycles are mostly vintage, but really anything that catches my eye. 99.99% of the content on this blog is original material. Comments are always welcome. Fighting electrical demons on the 1980 Yamaha XS650 Street Tracker
The Street Tracker hadn't run for awhile so of course the battery was shot. So I put in a new battery.
The headlight wasn't working so I picked up a new bulb.
One of the fuses was bad.
Chase a bad gound or short or anything.
Searched the internet and found this Emergency Lighting Device could be the problem. Picked up a replacement.
Put in new fuses. And presto, everything worked.

Installing a set of VM34 Mikuni's on the 1980 Yamaha Street Tracker
The finished job.
First step is removing the exhaust
Then remove the stock carburetors. It's straight forward. The cross bracing will need to be removed to make pulling apart easier.
Prepping for new carbs. Make sure all of the old gasket material is removed and ready for new gasket.
I like to use a high tack gasket sealant.
I also use anti seize when screwing screws or bolts into alloy.
Inlets installed.
The kit from Dime City Cycle included this nice split throttle cable. Saved a bunch of time.
VN34s installed.
Fuel line hooked up and ready to mount to tank.
