Carburetor Cleaning Experiment - Seafoam bath

These carbs are from my 1978 KZ1000 LTD.  The bike was parked with the tank and carbs full of of gasoline in 1981.  The slides were stuck solid due to fuel that had turned to varnish.

I didn't want to use a harsh carburetor cleaner so I tried a Seafoam bath first.

I soaked the carbs in Seafoam for several days. When I pulled the carbs out they were definitely cleaner but the slides were still stuck.  The bottom line is Seafoam works great on dissolving small stuff, but for really badly varnished carburetors something stronger is needed. I will try other methods and post the results in the future.
